And on Thursday Miley Cyrus took to Instagram to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the show’s series premiere.

The 23-year-old shared a collection of throwback photos, as well as a lengthy message looking back at her conflicting time on the popular show that was both heartfelt and darkly humorous.

‘I will always feel eternally grateful for the opportunity and platform I was given,’ Miley shared, while also noting that ‘even though HM is chopped up into little tiny pieces and buried in my backyard she will always hold a very special place in my heart!’

Miley could be seen laying on the ground in a cozy, white sweater and statement necklace as she showed off a blonde wig in a selfie that looked to have been texted to a friend.

She sent the picture along with a message that read: ‘How insane. 10 years later still laying around in a blonde wig,’ to which the other person replied: ‘Try as you might, you can’t get away. Lol.’

Along with this photo the former Disney Channel starlet decided to reflect on her complicated feelings toward her TV series.

She began by giving a shout-out to former onscreen brother Jason Earles, as she wrote: @realdukeofearles understands the insanity of it all…..’

‘Sending love to all my cast members on this anniversary …. To the world it’s a celebration of 10 years but for us the journey began way before the world had any clue who the f*** any of us are.’

She explained: ‘There was a very long auditioning process, and many chemistry reads which really is what sold the show to the producers and channel because no matter what went on over the years (which none of you have any clue about but It was like the real world but more hormonal teenagers) our love for each other was unquestionable.’

She noted that ‘though I feel disconnected to who I was at that time,’ she still felt grateful for her time on the series.

‘None of it would have been possible with out every single person who ever contributed to the series …. From regulars , to special guests (and there were many magical ones @dollyparton) to creators, crew , directors,’ Miley gushed.

‘I am where I am because of loyal fans that I am thankful for and of course love dearly all the new angels who support me now.’

‘Celebrate this day with us! Get real drunk and remember #HM4EVR send pics gettinnnnn buck wild in honor of this special day! [heart emojis] #letsplayadrinkinggame watch HM and every time someone says her name take a shot! Yiew hew!’ she encouraged fans as she concluded her message.

Hannah Montana debuted on March 24, 2006, with Miley starring as a regular teen with a double life as a pop star.

It went on to span four seasons and 98 episodes, and also launched the star’s personal singing career which featured albums such as Meet Miley Cyrus, Breakout, and Can’t Be Tamed.

Next she shared a throwback with her signature blonde Hannah Montana curls as she donned a fitted dress emblazoned with traffics signs.

She showed off a bit of attitude in her pose which seemed to entertain the star as she captioned the photo: ‘Lof***ingL HM 4 @itsjeremyscott #beenondatJSswag #HM4EVR.’

Miley also posted a screen grab from the series, which showed Hannah flashing some underarm hair, with subtitles reading: ‘Oh man, that’s embarrassing. I meant to braid those.’

The famously free-spirited star seemed to relate to her TV alter ego’s moment, writing: ‘Art imitates life.’

She has previously showed off her armpit hair, debuting newly-dyed pink hair on Instagram last May.

The star celebrated by watching her old series, continuing to post snaps and video clips, such as one in which she celebrated that her character was eating a veggie burger, since she herself is vegan in real life.

She was clearly feeling quite nostalgic as she also reposted an old, grainy photo originally shared by her father, Bill Rae Cyrus.

A young Miley – with brunette tresses – could be seen flashing a big smile in the snap which Bill Rae said reminded him of ‘her Mamaw Ruthie & Great Granny Mary.’

Miley didn’t get completely lost in the nostalgic, however, as she also posted a current-day shot of herself, in anticipation of the weekend.

Posing topless – with shimmery, silver star pasties – and lacy pink underwear and a long, red wig, Miley could be seen standing in front of an American flag.

The hitmaker wore a red cowboy hat and her face was covered in red and white stickers and she closed her eyes, revealing shimmery, silver eye shadow.

The star’s fit figure was on display in the patriotic picture, which she emphatically captioned: ‘It’s almost Friday yallllll!!!!’

Miley has recently been busy working on filming for Woody Allen’s as yet untitled TV series for Amazon, hence the blonde wig.

The series, which also stars Elaine May, Rachel Brosnahan, Woody, and John Magaro, is set to debut on the streaming service later this year.
